“We are so very grateful for this scholarship program because I homeschool my daughter and it gives her the opportunity to have musical lessons. Being a single mom of 2, I feel very fortunate to be able to receive the scholarship for Shiloh so she may have the musical experience she’s dreamed for. “Music is important to me because music helps me to express emotion. I listen to music every chance I get, and use it as a way to express my feelings, or to be able to amplify them. I have a playlist for almost every way I may feel, or for almost every situation. When I get sad, I’ll just turn the playlist on and let myself go. It can help me get all my bottled up feelings out, so I’m not so sad, or angry, and so I don’t take it out on others. I don’t just use my music to amplify emotions, however, I also can translate it into expressing feelings when I don’t want to listen. I’ll play piano and/or sing so that I can get out the way I’m feeling at any given point. I’ll write lyrics or I’ll just go along with it and sing. Either way, music helps me feel.”  – Emerson
